Spelling to Communicate

Spelling to Communicate (S2C) is a method developed by I-ASC that teaches individuals with motor challenges, such as apraxia, to communicate by pointing to letters on a board. Unlike traditional therapies that focus on speech production, S2C recognizes that for many non-speaking individuals, the barrier to communication is motor, not cognitive. This process bridges the gap between the brain and the body, eventually allowing the individual to unlock their true personality, and thoughts, providing a reliable way for them to finally be heard.

Build confidence in communication.

Spelling to Communicate Fort Myers was established with the belief of a simple but profound conviction: everyone deserves to be heard.

Break the Barrier

S2C recognizes a crucial truth: the inability to speak is often a motor barrier. It is a disconnect between the brain and the body, rather than a reflection of a person’s cognitive capacity.

One on One Sessions

By treating communication as a teachable, practice-based motor skill, this method bypasses unreliable speech pathways and provides a reliable outlet for expression.

Belief & Confidence

S2C fundamentally shifts how people view and support non-speaking individuals, replacing a focus on limitations with an unwavering commitment to presumed competence.
